Public lecture: "Digital Public Health – Promises and potential pitfalls"

The LSC is giving a public lecture on "Digital Public Health – Promises and potential pitfalls" hosted by the Department of Public Health, Oshakati Campus at the University Namibia.

We discuss current developments and challenges along the essential public health operations (EPHO) and critically reflect on promises such as fast data
collection and broad reach as well as on pitfalls including data privacy, inequalities in access and use, and the behavioural rather than setting perspective of many digital interventions.

We review examples both from low and middle as well as high income countries and provide insights into research on digital dissemination of fake news
in the context of the Corona pandemic. Research conducted in the Leibniz Science Campus Digital Public Health in Bremen will inform this talk.
